Last of the 80s has No Time to Chat

Last of the 80s is a group led by lead singer/rapper Amey, who had to persevere through tribulations throughout his adolescence, eventually formed as a response to tough times.

Amey’s first passion wasn’t music, the dream of getting paid to play professional football racked his brain since he was a youth, but due to the circumstances of his life, he switched his passion to writing songs and performing in front of thousands of people. Those circumstances were the lack of a stable address, as he had to move from the Virgin Islands when he was ten to Virginia, and the subsequent moves because his family couldn’t afford to pay rent.

That type of adversity can either lead to failure or greatness, and in the case of the group Last of the 80s, the latter is the path taken as they are channeling their past life and his ambition into creating modern hits. Last of the 80s officially started releasing music on streaming platforms in 2021, with the album Kentuckyy State Hall, boasting the hits: Blushing and We Like to Look At

Staying consistent, Last of the 80s released another album that year and continued to drop singles well into 2022 with its latest track NOVA; but the song I want to focus on in this article is its most popular song, No Time to Chat

The song features a nocturnal trap beat with booming 808s and subtle, rattling high hats. The production leaves plenty of space for the group to flow and adlib to their hearts desire. That’s exactly what they did. To begin, the hook plays a host a punchy staccato flow from a piercing voice exclaiming why he has “no time to chat”, including getting cash and flexing what he can buy with that cash. The first verse has a more deliberate flow and vocal delivery, explaining to a girl why Last of the 80s is so dope, with potent lines like “mix the green with the red, it's christmas.” Not to be out done, the second verse claims its stake on the track transitioning from a husky voice exuding presence to the same voice on the hook, with the pleasant to the ears voice that pierces through the mix. It’s the same content, different voice and the duo culminates in a contrast that emits chemistry.

In summary, Last of the 80s is a talented and versatile group that displays their creativity in ways that are refreshing to the ears. They are sure to rise so make sure that you follow Last of the 80s on Spotify and subscribe to its YouTube so that you don’t miss their upcoming releases.
