KevKov Ambiguity Interview

Ambiguity - Franklin Stone and KevKov

We got a chance to ask Stoned Produce’s newest rising star KevKov some questions in lue of his debut joint EP with Franklin Stone. The production genius behind the project has been with Stoned Produce since the summer of ‘21, and he and Stone have clearly been working, delivering a diverse, but somehow cohesive project on November 12. Since it’s release, Ambiguity has seen the following of both artists jump and is sure to have a sequel of some kind. Before there is a sequel though, we wanted to know how this creative relationship began, and we asked KevKov.

  • When did you begin making music, and why?

Generally I started taking drum lessons when I was seven years old for a few years. However my interest in music production really started when I helped a friend of mine create a movie score for his short film project.

  • What’s your creation process?

That differs from track to track. Sometimes I start with the chords and sometimes with drums.

  • How did you discover Franklin Stone, and what made you want to collaborate?

It all started when he suggested that I remix his song Lenses. I had a great time remixing it and he seemed to like it. I personally liked how consistent his work was and is. Everything he does seems to be fleshed out already, so a great collab duo was born.

  • How did the EP come about? Was the process any different than you normally take?

I think the creation process is different in general. The acapellas existed before the instrumental which is fairly the opposite on how it's handled in the industry, so that was an intriguing route to take.

  • If you had to explain the project to our audience, how would you do it?

It is just a purely fun project where every song got created because of momentary inspirations of outside influences.

  • What’s your favorite song on the project, and why?

That's a difficult question. Either Ambiguity or Know me. I really enjoyed producing them, and I´m the most satisfied with them artistically.

KevKov is an up and coming producer from Germany, who’s talent lies in his versatility and sound design. His discography is full of diverse instrumentals, making you want to either vibe or dance. Ambiguity is the first release in which KevKov instrumentation is fronted by a vocalist which does nothing but enhance his production and engineering. He does a fantastic job at creating an atmosphere throughout his music that is sure to hook anyone that’s listening. I cannot wait to hear what the duo have in store.
