Don’t Call Bombei Crazy

This week’s artist is definitely a curve ball when it comes to the types of artists talked about on this blog. For one, the artist doesn’t exist physically within our reality, and second, the music created by this artist is an anomaly, an audio contradiction. The artist in question is a new one called BOMBEI.exe and her debut single is here.

Of course I have to explain the intro in depth as it may sound absurd, which in a way, BOMBEI.exe is, though you’d love her more for it. The new artist is an ideological and technological persona, and not in the way that the rapping A.I. recently made headlines for. She is a pure expression of art, expressed through sound waves and visuals. So while listening to her first song, and watching her first visual, Call Me Crazy, I wasn’t surprised at the amount of artistic integrity involved in the creation.

Sonically, Call Me Crazy brings me back to the eighties. The groove is built on a foundation of distorted synths with a dance groove led by the bassline and four to the floor drum pattern. While having minimum lyrics, the song always keeps you on your feet, as something is always changing every four or eight bars. The energy of the song is energetic and infectious and will have you, at the very least, bopping your head.

Visually, the video begins with a trigger warning for epileptics, and rightfully so, as it plays host to a rapid firing of colors, giving the effect of a charming kaleidoscope. The video’s aesthetic is also reminiscent of the eighties as it has a vintage filter complete with visual noise, as if the television is glitching. The harmony between the song and video is unmatched, and creatively, the art stands out amongst its peers.

Defitintly follow BOMBEI.exe on Spotify and subscribe to her channel on YouTube to stay up to date with all of her releases.
