Graduation Day with 2ton3

Back with another new southern artist using the iconic Atlas88 studios and this time, his name is 2ton3 hailing from Jackson, Mississippi. His latest project, Year of The Two’s, is here, but I want to focus on his 2021 mixtape, Graduation Day. I first heard this project after Stoned Produce affiliate artist S.A.E suggested it to me and I was not disappointed.

2ton3’s style as an artist is melodic but lyrical, something I’m getting accustomed to hearing from southern artists like S.A.E, NBA YoungBoy, and Yungeen Ace, but 2ton3 brings his own style. I like how his vocals pierce through the beat and bounce off the 808s. A perfect example of this is his singles for this project, Last First Day and King 23. Both play host to introspective lyrics of 2ton3’s outlook on his expectations and the life that he’s lived.

That theme holds true for the whole Graduation Day project. He either questions what has happened to him throughout his life or looks toward a better future after preserving through school. I can sense his pride throughout the project of his accomplishments and it adds sentimental value. My favorite song on the tape is On my Own

In this song 2ton3 discusses the difficulty of losing someone important and what it comes with. He deals with it by “locking in his zone”, getting lost in his thoughts and focusing on his grind. This relatable content is over a backdrop of catchy hats and a booming 808, perfect for bumping in the whip.

2ton3 is another southern artist on the rise and he drops consistently. Don’t miss any of his releases by following his Spotify and get to know him personally on his Instagram. I promise you won’t regret it, just roll or pour something, sit back and bump Graduation Day.
